Special Tops            (Back to the )

The following tops were a special gift from Brian Lemin.  He made them from bone.  As you can see by the ruler, they are quite small.  The tippe actually works!  Thanks again, Brian.

The following top is what I call (and have seen referred to as) a push rod top.  It is one of my favorite tops.  If you know where I could obtain more of these, I'd love to hear from you!
 
 
The disc at the end of the red casing is attached to an iron rod that slides into the casing.  To launch the top, one slides the rod out of the casing and places the disc inside the top.  Then one pushes the casing downward.  Torque is produced as the rod slides back into the casing during the downward thrust.
