Iron Band: These tops were very popular with children for use in a game where they tried to knock out or even break each others tops. It would appear that initially they were made without the iron band and in the days of the blacksmith the children took their wooden tops to him to have a band put around them. Today I think they are made this way initially.

Saturn: Looks just like its name! Is that a string pull that I see?

Chinese Man: Looks like a thrown top or as we might also say a peg top.

Hitting: According to my translator this appears to be a hitting top. My own observations would say it is more like a weather forecasting top of good luck forecasting top.?? (Errors and omission excepted on both our parts!)

Journey: This perhaps gives us a clue as to how the mushroom top is spun. I suggest that this one is a thrown top.

Ninja: I think we all recognise "him".

Straw: Not sure about this one. Probably a palm spun top.

Chopstick rest: Most interesting double purpose top!! :)

Jumping/Leaping out: I know about these tops too. They start in a stacked or covered position and then they are spun. As the spin all the separate tops fly out and spin on their own account. Well known in France in the 19th century.
